Ziplining
If you want to experience amazing nature, a breath of fresh air as well as a touch of adrenaline, visit Apaga Resort. Located in the village of Yenokavan, only about a 1.5-hour drive from Yerevan and a 2.5-hour drive from Georgia, the resort is an amazing getaway to detox from the city noise and fully get rested.
When in Apaga, check out Yell Extreme Park which has activities, such as horseback riding and off-roading, along with rock climbing, paragliding, and ziplining. The park is one of the most renowned places in the region.
There are five ziplines in the park, with about 200-300 m above the ground and 1.5 hours for the average duration of the trip. To get to the Park, drive to the Tavush region through the region’s center Ijevan. Tavush has the most indescribable nature, which will make your trip extra special!
Skiing
Only 50 km from Zvartnots International Airport and close to the capital Yerevan, drive up to Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort. The infrastructure is in good condition and it is one of the most popular places to go skiing in Armenia. Surrounded by nature, covered in all white, when skiing, you will probably envy your own eyes with what you will see around!
The highest skiing point is in an altitude of 2819 meters, which shows an amazing view of Lake Sevan and Mountain Ararat. The resort also conducts lessons for professionals, so if you are seriously interested in skiing, you might meet a lot of skiers from around the world, and improve your own skills with a help of master coaches.
Hiking
The hiking culture in Armenia has really taken a big turn - there are many hiking enthusiasts and organizations that have created amazing trails for beginners, amateurs, or professionals.
Located nearby the capital Yerevan, Mount Ara is towards the middle of the Aragatsotn and Kotayk provinces’ border. The elevation of the mountain is about 2600m and with different seasons there are different activities you can try in the area.
Hiking up to the peak, you can enjoy unforgettable views of the mountain, radically different from what you may have seen in the other parts of the country. If you don’t feel like hiking the whole peak, drive up to a certain point and enjoy the view from that side.
Trekking
It should not be surprising that a country as mountainous as Armenia is perfect for trekking. One of the best places in Armenia for starting your trekking experience is Lake Sevan – spend a few days walking and a few days camping by the beach.
Another great option is Dilijan where lots of trails are already built that go through the city and the Dilijan National Park. Some more options of trekking are in regions of Vayots Dzor (Areni-Noravank-Smbataberd), Syunik (Tatev – Khndzoresk – Karahunj) or Aragatsotn (Kasakh Gorge and Amberd fortress).
Feeling weary or don’t want to go trekking under heavy rains? You can always rent a vehicle and drive part of the route till you get back in the game.
